The Journal is an example of a small editorial publication. This first issue takes familiar objects as its starting point: a desk, an unfinished book, a notebook margin, a secondhand paperback, and a wall calendar.
Each piece is a short, original work written for this starter. The scenes and bylines are fictional. Photographs are served from Unsplash.
Two forms
Essays follow a single observation over several sections. Notebook entries are shorter and stay close to one detail. Neither category is intended as a promise about how often new work will appear.
Reading the issue
The archive contains all five stories and can be searched by title, subject, or author. There is no paywall and no account to create.
